Pharmacy : Staff-Sergeant, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 21st August, 1915, was appointed sergeant and later staff-sergeant in charge Liverpool Camp Dispensary. Joining 9th Australian Field Ambulance on formation in February, 1916, and crossing to France, served as dispenser at Armentieres and Messines, where wounded 7th June, 1917. Died of Wounds, Bailleul, 7th June, 1917, and was buried in Bailleul Military Cemetery. Early education at Fort St. High School. His open manly character endeared him to the officers, N.C.O.'s and men . . . His work was always of high standard and done conscientiously, and he set a pattern by his smartness and thoroughness, which was conspicuous. In action he was brave and gallant . . .
