B.A. : Corporal, 1st Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 30th June, 1915, and sailing 8th October, joined battn. in Egypt 14th February, 1916, and, crossing to France in March, served at Fleurbaix, Pozieres, Flers, Bullecourt, Ypres till 6th March, 1918, when gassed at Hill 60. On recovery was with battn. from September until demobilisation. Promoted extra-regimental corporal, 26th July, 1919. Awarded Gold Medal for Story of Pozieres in A.I.F. Narratives Competition. Early education at Five Dock Public School.
