B.E., A.M.I.E.Aust. : Captain, 3rd Pioneer Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 3rd January, 1916, joined battn. 30th March as secondlieutenant and arrived at Armentieres in November, where wounded 31st December, but remained on duty. Also served at Messines, Ypres, Somme and elsewhere, returning in February, 1920. Promoted lieutenant, 1st April, 1916, and captain, 1st May. Name brought under notice of the Secretary of State for War for Valuable Services rendered.
