M.C., B.E., A.M.I.E.Aust. : Captain, 15th Brigade, R.F.A., B.E.F., France and Italy. Enlisting at War Office, London, and receiving commission 16th March, 1915, crossed to France 1st July, being wounded at Montauban in July, 1916. Served also with unit in France and Italy until March, 1919, returning to Australia on demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant, 29th July, 19 16; captain, 28th April, 1918. Awarded M.C. and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Geelong College.
