Book of Remembrance entry
M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, R.A.M.C., B.E.F., France, England and Germany. After passage as Ship's Surgeon on troopship Argyllshire in April, enlisted in London as lieutenant in June, 1915, and was attached to Connaught Hospital, Aldershot, and became R.M.O, 8th Queen's Battn., crossing to France in August. Transferring to n th General Hospital, Rouen, in December and to 1st Cavalry Division as M.O. 9th Field Squadron R.E., served mostly on the Somme till June, 1917, when demobilised. Then was civilian M.O. in Military Hospital, Bethnal Green, until leaving for Australia in November. Re-enlisting in London in August, 1918, as R.M.O. 26th Battn., Royal Fusiliers, took part in final operations and in November was invalided to Boulogne and thence to Mitchelham Hospital, Cap Martin. On recovery entered Germany with Army of Occupation and remained at Cologne with Royal Fusiliers until demobilised in February, 1919. Then was M.O. Pensions Board, Chelsea, for several months, later returning to Australia. Tutor in Surgery. Early education at Geelong College.
