Book of Remembrance entry
M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant, 4th Battn. and 25th General Service Reinforcements, A.I.F., Gallipoli. Enlisting 11th August, 1914, and sailing 20th October, served at Gallipoli with battn. from the Landing until wounded at Lone Pine 7th August, 1915, three days after promotion to second-lieutenant and honorary lieutenant, being evacuated to Malta, Egypt and Australia, arriving 16th March, 1916. Re-enlisting in Engineers 21st January, 1918, was discharged five days later unfit. Enlisting yet again 1st November, and sailing on 7th as Draft Officer 25th General Service Reinforcements, was recalled on account of the Armistice. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
