Book of Remembrance entry
B.A. : Private, 2nd and 3rd Battns., A.I.F., England and France. Enlisting 12th February, 1916, and sailing 2nd June, having passed as 1st Class Signaller at Casula School, was appointed sergeantinstructor 1st Brigade Signal School, Perham Downs. Joining 2nd Battn. in France 12th February, 1917, served as signaller at Ligny, Hermies, Bullecourt, Polygon Wood, Broodseinde, Passchendaele, Wytschaete, Hill 60 and Strazeele. Transferring to 3rd Battn. 4th August, 1918, was with it at 8th August Advance, Proyart, Roisel, Hargicourt and until demobilisation, including three months'' nonmilitary employment. Early education at Bathurst District School. Later at Teachers'' College.
