M.C., B.E., A.M.I.E.Aust. : Major, 6th Battn., Loyal North Lancashire Regt., B.E.F., France, Gallipoli, Egypt, Mesopotamia and Kurdistan. At the outbreak of War was in America completing engineering training and, crossing to England, enlisted in November, 1914, and was detailed to Guards Depot in Surrey. Commissioned lieutenant 22nd January, 1915, was posted to 2nd Battn Queen''s Royal West. Surrey Regt. and in July despatched with draft of North Lancs., serving with unit in Gallipoli, Egypt, Mesopotamia and Kurdistan from August, 1915, to October, 1919, although wounded at Kut-el- Amara in April, 1916. Awarded M.C. in October, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at The King''s School. Later at St. Paul's College.
