B.A., M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, 19th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting in March, 1915, and sailing 25th June as secondlieutenant, served with battn. in Gallipoli from 16th August and then in France until seconded in January, 1917, as Staff Trainee, 2nd Division H.Q., and later to 6th Australian Infantry Brigade. Wounded at Bois Grenier 25th June, 1916 and again at Menin Road in September, 1917, when invalided to Australia, arriving in January, 1918. Promoted lieutenant 8th October, 1915; captain, 14th November, 1916. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College.
