1955 Gunn reported to NZ government on the need to establish a Veterinary School and was a member of the UN Food & Agriculture Organisation's mission to India and Pakistan on veterinary education. In 1961-62 he served on an FAO panel of experts. From ADB entry

D.V.Sc., B.Sc.Agr.; B.Sc. (Edin.), M.R.C.V.S. : Staff- Sergeant, 24th A.A.S.C., 3rd Divisional Train, A.I.F., France. Enlisting 13th September, 1915, and sailing 30th May, 1916, served in France from 20th November, 1916, to 4th February, 1919. Demobilised in London 24th December, 1919, and returned 21st January, 1922, after graduating at Edinburgh and gaining M.R.C.V.S. Diploma in July, 1921. Lecturer in Veterinary Surgery and Anatomy. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
