After graduation Harold Greenway occupied a series of mining positions. His life attracted attention in the newspapers of the time. The most notorious of these was the Chaffinch Mine. Also before WW1 was Mount Lyell and its disaster. He distinguished himself in his WW1 service. Post war he was again employed as a mining engineer until resignation in 1935. From then he lived quietly in St Kilda until his tragic death in 1954.
