M.C., M.A. (Glas.), Law I : Captain, R.F.A., B.E.F., Fr.ance. Enlisting in London 1st October, 1915, after sailing privately was posted as lieutenant to 1/13 Reserve Brigade, R.F.A., in November. Served with "D "Battery, 92nd Bde. in February, 1916, with 20th Divisional Artillery Trench Mortar Battery in April, and was O.C. "Y "Battery in May, being wounded at St. Jean, near Ypres, in June, and evacuated to England. Returning to 20th Division in October, was appointed Acting Captain and O.C. "V "Heavy T.M. Battery and in April, 1917, 20th Div. T.M. Officer. In January, 1918, transferred to "B "Battery, 91st Bde., R.F.A., serving till demobilisation and then returning to Australia. Awarded M.C. and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Bellahaustin Academy, Glasgow.
