M.C., LL.B. : Captain, 34th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in November, 1915, and sailing 2nd May, 1916, after being commissioned in January, and posted to battn. on formation, reached France 21st November. Was Acting Coy. Commander B. Coy. till February, 1917, and C Coy. from July to October at Messines, Ypres and Passchendaele, where wounded. Then commanded A Coy. at the Somme, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere until demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant, 1st August, 1916; captain, 24th October, 1917. Awarded M.C. 16th January, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
