Book of Remembrance entry
M.B. : Lieutenant, 1st Divisional Artillery, A.I.F., France. Enlisting 8th November, 1915, and sailing 15th January, 1916, with 1st Brigade reinforcements, joined 21st Howitzer Brigade in Egypt 6th March and, crossing with it to France, fought at Armentieres, Somme and Ypres. Transferring to 1st Divisional Artillery H.Q. 1st January, 1917, and to 1st F.A.B. 28th February, served at Hindenburg Line, Bullecourt, Ypres and elsewhere till 9th March, 1918, and then with 2nd Brigade until demobilisation, though wounded at Kemmel, 22nd April. Promoted second-lieutenant, 7th February, 1918, and lieutenant, 7th May. Early education at Sydney High School.
