Book of Remembrance entry
LL.B. : Lieutenant, 20th Battn., A.I.F., France and England. Enlisting 4th August, 1915, and sailing as second-lieutenant, n th March, 1916, served till badly wounded after ten days in trenches at Pozieres, 4th August, and evacuated to England. On recovery was for twelve months at A.I.F. H.Q., London, returning medically unfit in July, 1918. Promoted lieutenant, 1st June, 1917. Early education at Christian Brothers'' School, Lewisham.
