B.D.S.; B.A. (Qld.) : Lieutenant, A.F.C. and 15th Battn., A.I.F., France and England. Enlisting 31st July, 1915, and sailing 28th March, 1916, as second lieutenant with 15th Battn. reinforcements, joined battn.before Pozieres, where wounded 26th August and evacuated to hospital. Rejoining battn. after four months, served till middle of 1917, then transferred to A.F.C., graduating as pilot, attending Instructional Pilots School and obtaining observer''s certificate. Instructed at No. 8 Squadron till Armistice, returning for demobilisation. Early education at Ipswich Grammar School.
