Before the Great War, Mr Francis was a school teacher. Towards the end of his war service, he had the opportunity to attend professional development training that would further his career in education services. He attended the AIF Instruction Services School and later Education Services Training School at Cambridge, UK. Upon return to Australia, he was an Education Officer, and he took up posting in Pt Lincoln. Mr Francis, MC, continues to contribute to public education services and was awarded MBE in 1954 for his services in Primary School Curriculum Board, SA.
