M.B., Ch.M. : Sergeant, 3rd and n th Bdes., A.F.A., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, England and France. Enlisting 25th May, 1915, and sailing 27th September, served with 3rd Brigade at Gallipoli, with 4th Divisional Artillery at Tel-el- Kebir and Serapeum (Suez Canal). Crossing to France, fought at Fromelles, Bapaume, Somme, Bullecourt, Messines, Menin Road, Passchendaele, Cambrai, then, after a period in England, at the Hindenburg Line, and until demobilisation. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School.
