M.B. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.N. and M.E.F., New Guinea. Enlisting in October, 1914, and sailing 29th November, served as M.O. at Namanula near Rabaul and later at Woodlark Island. From 1917 was P.M.O., Rabaul, till demobilisation. Promoted major, 23rd March, 1916; lieutenant-colonel, 1st January, 1918. Early education at St. Ignatius'' College. Later at St. John''s.
