Enlisting in London 16th August, 1914, served with Australian Voluntary and 32nd Stationary Hospitals till 1918, returning via Canada in 1919. Made a C.B.E. in 1920 and Commander, Order of Aviz, Portugal, and Mentioned in Despatches. Pre-War: Joined N.S.W. A.M.C., 1891, and served in South African War as Major, Commanding No. 2 Bearer Coy. Made a C.B. in 1900 and Mentioned in Despatches. A.M.F. : P.M.O., N.S.W. Military District. Major General (retired). Early education at Oswestry Grammar School. Later at Caius College, Cambridge, and Trinity College, Dublin.
