B.E. : Lieutenant, General List (Education Service) and A.F.C., A.I.F., England and France. Enlisting 24th October, 1916, and sailing 9th November, 1917, with A.F.C. reinforcements, served in England from 8th January, 1918, with details, where promoted corporal, and at Education School, Cambridge, from 15th October. Was attached to Australian Corps H.Q. (Technical Workshops) in France from 13th January, 1919, to May, returning 8th January, 1920. Promoted second-lieutenant, 30th October, 1918; lieutenant, 1st February, 1919. Early education at Christian Brothers'' College, Waverley.
