B.A. : Corporal, 2nd Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 13th December, 1915, and sailing 7th October, 1916, with 21st Reinforcements, served with battn. on Somme until wounded at Hermies 10th May and evacuated to England in August. Rejoining battn. in October, 1918, was instructor under A.I.F. Education Scheme for four months and then attended six months Diploma of Education Course, London Day Training College, returning 7th February, 1920. President, Evening Students'' Association. Early education at Sydney High School. Later at Teachers'' College.
