M.A. (Oxon.), M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., Med. : Surgeon Probationer, R.N. Volunteered for Land Forces in England in 1914 but, being a medical student, was not accepted. Served on H.M.S. "Lark "and destroyers till October, 1916, and then on "Special Service "—decoy ships—till December, 1918. Mentioned in Despatches. Rhodes Scholar for Queensland, 1911. Early education Brisbane Grammar School. Later at Balliol College.
