Book of Remembrance entry
Arts : Private (Acting Sergeant) A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 9th April, 1915, and sailing 10th November, took part in Desert March and, crossing to France 23rd June, 1916, was with 8th Australian Field Ambulance at Fromelles, Armentieres, Flers, Bapaume, Bullecourt and Passchendaele till gassed in October, 1917. After three weeks in hospital, served in quiet sectors till March, 1918, and then at Somme, Villers-Bretonneux, Harbonnieres, Hindenburg Line and elsewhere till demobilisation. Early education at Wollongong Superior Public School. Later at Hereford House.
