Book of Remembrance entry

O.B.E., B.A.; M.A. (Camb.), Sci. III : Major, 7th Battn., Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, B.E.F., France and Salonika. Joined King Edward''s Horse before the War but, owing to absence at Science Congress in Australia in August, 1914, his place was filled before possible return, necessitating transfer to above battn. After service in France went to Salonika where promoted major and wounded in August, 1916, and subsequently, still suffering shell shock, allotted light duty on Home Service at Portsmouth. Was with Captain Scott''s Antarctic Expedition, 1910, gaining Navy and Royal Geographical Society''s Medals. Elected Fellow Caius College; Professor of Geography, University of Cambridge. Early education at The King''s School (Dux).
