Book of Remembrance entry

B.E., A.M.I.E.Aust. : Sergeant, 34th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 2nd March, 1916, and sailing 4th September, joined battn. 20th December at Armentieres where wounded 17th March, 1917, and evacuated to No. 3 General Hospital, London. On recovery rejoined battn. in France, 4th September, in Ypres sector after a few months'' training in England with 62nd Battn. and was wounded again at Passchendaele 13th October. Returning to battn. in December in Le Touquet sector, fought at Warneton, Villers-Bretonneux, Cachy and elsewhere until wounded for the third time at Morlancourt 22nd August, 1918, and again next day while on stretcher, being evacuated to Exeter Hospital and thence to Australia, arriving in January, 1919. Early education at Taree District School.
