Captain Davies' father was the famous Professor EH Davies who was appointed Director of the Elder Conservatorium of Music and Elder Professor of Music in 1919. Professor Davies served twenty-eight years as Dean of the Faculty of Music.

M.B., B.S. (Adel.), F.R.A.C.P., Professor of Physiology, 1930 : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st July, 1917, and sailing 8th August, served at No. 1 Australian General Hospital till December and then with 3rd Australian Division till the Armistice. Demobilised in England 19th September, 1919, after three months'' non-military employment, later returning to Australia from Research Work at Oxford. Rockefeller Foundation Fellow. Honorary Consulting Physiologist, Sydney Hospital.
