Not listed in the Book of Remembrance. In 1914 he was working on the building of submarines and was prohibited by the Admiralty from enlisting. In 1915 he was the Assistant Superintendent at National Shell and Projectile Factory in Leeds. In 1917 was transferred to the Ministry of Munitions as personal assistant to Member of Council for Guns. In 1918 was appointed Director of Department of Statistics and Requirements until May 1919.[War Service Record University of Sydney]
