D.S.O., B.Sc. : Colonel, 29th Division, Royal Artillery, B.E.F., England, Gallipoli, Egypt, France and Ireland. Having been appointed Adjutant, London Heavy Brigade R.G.A. (Regulars), in April, 1914, carried out mobilisation, raising, training and administering units (all arms) and forming 2nd Line Territorials in London District. Promoted Staff Captain 29th Divisional Artillery 1st February, 1915, and took part in the Landing at Cape Helles 25th April as Brigade Major 29th Division and Artillery of 8th Army Corps. In August became D.A.A. and Q.M.G. 52nd Division and of 8th Army Corps in November, taking part in preparation of plans for the Evacuation of Gallipoli and stated to be the last officer to leave after continuous service in the campaign. Appointed D.A.A. and Q.M.G. 9th Army, Egypt, in February, 1916, and attached to Staff, H.Q. Heavy Artillery, 8th Army Corps, France, in May, commanding Heavy Battery at Battle of Somme until severely wounded twice. After being D.A.A. and Q.M.G. Northern District, Irish Command, from 28th September, 1916, became D.A.A.G. War Office from 27th May, 1917, to 1919. Promoted Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel for valuable War Services, King''s Birthday Honours, 1919. Awarded D.S.O. 8th November, 1915, and Mentioned in Despatches twice—for the Landing and subsequent Gallipoli operations. Made Officer (4th Class with swords) of the Order of the White Eagle of Serbia, 1918. Pre-War : South Africa, Trooper N.S.W. Mounted Rifles, 1899, commissioned and subsequently with R.G.A. till Peace. West Africa 1903-06. Adjutant, City of London R.G.A. (Volunteers), 1907-08, and Heavy Brigade, 1908-10. Post-War : A.A. and Q.M.G. Thames and Medway Area, Eastern Command, 1919-23; Acting D.A.A.G. War Office, 1923. Service in India, 1927-32, retiring with rank of Colonel. Early education at St. Ignatius'' College.
