Lt Colonel Cunningham was killed in action at Benghazi on 16 February 1941, just prior to the German advance into the Western Desert. He was the CO of the first field Ambulance. Former RMO, Sydney Hospital. From SU BoR WW2

Med III. Listed in the back of the Book of Remembrance in the Combatant section as, a member of the University who joined the Company, volunteered for active service, and having been accepted for the A.I.F., was in camp at Liverpool preparatory to leaving for the Front, October 1918.
