Book of Remembrance entry
B.Arch. : Lieutenant, East Lancashire Regiment, B.E.F., Egypt, Gallipoli, Mesopotamia and France; also Indian Army. Enlisting 20th August, 1914, and sailing 16th October, was commissioned 19th April, 1915, and joined 6th Battn. East Lancs, in September. Proceeding to Egypt, Gallipoli and Mesopotamia, was wounded 9th April, 1916. On recovery joined battn. in France, serving till wounded and gassed at Villers-Bretonneux, 24th April, 1918. Then transferred to Indian Army as lieutenant but was invalided out, returning to regt. July, 1919, and to Australia in May, 1920. Member of University of Tasmania (Arts and Law).
