M.C., B.E., A.M.I.E.Aust. : Captain, 2nd Australian Tunnelling Coy., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in June, 1915, and sailing in February, 1916, arrived in France in May, 1916, and served until demobilisation at Nieuport, Dunes sector and elsewhere. Promoted lieutenant, 1st December, 1915; captain, 26th July, 1916. Awarded M.C. 30th May, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
