Book of Remembrance entry
B.A., LL.B. : Lieutenant-Colonel, 4th Battn. and General List, A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, France and England. Enlisting 14th August, 1914, was commissioned on 27th, promoted lieutenant and then captain before sailing with battn. on 19th October. Served at Gallipoli from the Landing till 25th May when wounded and was an Embarkation Officer at Suez from July, 1915, to June, 1916. Crossing to France, was Commandant 4th Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, and later of Australian Depot, Havre, from their formation. On 1st December, 1917, was appointed Commandant Australian Corps No. 3 Reinforcements Camp, remaining there till June, 1918. Then, after a short time at Administrative H.Q., London, was Embarkation Staff Officer till August, 1919, returning in November. Promoted major, 1st November, 1916; lieutenant-colonel, 1st October, 1917. Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
