9.3.15; sailed to join R.A.M.C. as Lieut.; in England a month, then to France; attd. 42nd Bde. R.F.A. June 1915; Capt. March 1916; invalided to England October 1916, and declared unfit for France; relinquished commission, but remained in charge of Hursley Camp Hosp. till it closed in February 1919; passed primary exam. for F.R.C.S. Returned in 1921.
