M.C., B.A. Captain 13th Service Battalion, The Cheshire Regiment. Twice wounded. Drowned when going into action, Lake Onega, Russia 18 August 1919. Scholar of Corpus Christi College, Oxford. "He spent five weeks in the front line previous to our attack studying the enemy's system and acquiring information which afterwards proved most useful. His keenness in volunteering for every raid or patrol and his fearlessness and untiring energy in collecting information for his brigade have earned the unanimous appreciation and admiration of all Commanding Officer in his Brigade."
