Enlisting 22nd July, 1915, and sailing as second-lieutenant 25th June, 1916, with 3rd Reinforcements 54th Battn., joined battn. 26th January, 1917, and served in Bullecourt and Ypres sectors till wounded at Passchendaele, 17th October. On recovery joined 56th Battn., n th October, 1918, serving until demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant, 20th April, 1917. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
