M.M., Eng. : Lieutenant, 34th Battn., A.I.F., France. Accepted for service 10th April, 1916, after seven attempts, sailed as corporal 2nd May and, crossing to France with 3rd Division in November, served at Armentieres, Messines, Ypres, Villers- Brettoneux and Somme till death. Promoted sergeant, November, and later sergeant-major; second-lieutenant, 30th August, 1917, and lieutenant, 5th December. Killed in Action, Thailles Wood, near Bray, 20th August, 1918. Early education at St. Stanislaus'' College, Bathurst. Later at St. John''s.
