D.S.O., Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur, M.L.A., Arts and L aw : Lieutenant-Colonel, General List, A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and Palestine. Enlisting in October, 1914, with original 6th A.L.H. Regiment and sailing 20th December as lieutenant, was promoted captain on the voyage and was Second in Command of A Squadron till wounded at The Pimple, Gallipoli, 26th May, 1915. Rejoining unit in September, commanded C Squadron as major till invalided in December. Served as Second in Command 6th A.L.H. at Romani, taking command after Colonel Fuller was wounded. In charge at Battle of Bir el Abd 22nd April, 1917. Seconded to 2nd A.L.H. Brigade as acting staff captain, 12th August, appointed D.A.A.G. Anzac Mounted Division, and on 23rd June, 1918, A.A. and Q.M.G., acting as Chief Adjutant Officer to Chaytor's Force in last push across Jordan, returning 19th July, 1920. Awarded D.S.O., and Mentioned in Despatches twice. Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur. Deputy Premier and Minister for Transport. Early education at The Armidale School. Later at St. Paul's College.
