Econ. I : Private, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 25th June, 1915, and sailing 20th December, joined 5th Australian Field Ambulance in Egypt and, crossing to France, served at Fleurbaix, Pozieres, the Somme, Hindenburg Line, Bullecourt, Passchendaele, Hangard Wood and elsewhere until demobilisation, though slightly gassed. Early education at Petersham Public School.
