Arts : Corporal, 49th Battn., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 5th January, 1916, and sailing 4th May with 13th Reinforcements 26th Battn., served for 3 months in Egypt and then transferred to 49th Battn. in France, being wounded at Messines 7th June, 1917. Returning to duty after 1 1 weeks in hospital, served until demobilisation. Promoted lance-corporal 8th October, 1918. Early education at Smith Street Public School, Balmain.
